Over the past 7 years Capital Storytelling has hosted nearly 150 events across the region and trained over 5000 people in true storytelling. Much of our programming is free to our community. We do this work because we believe in the power of true storytelling to drive social change and impact lives. We are raising fund for 2025– specifically for our Immigrant Storytelling Program and our Story Ambassadors Program.
Our Immigrant Storytelling Program serves first and second generation immigrants in the Northern California region through free workshops and a large free showcase event. In the last two years we have served over 750 people through these events. We believe we need this program now more than ever.
Our Story Ambassadors Program trains leaders to use storytelling in their own communities (often by hosting free workshops and events in their own neighborhoods). In the past 3 years we have trained nearly 30 individuals who then facilitated over 45 free workshops and events– serving over 600 people. This program has ripple effects.
Donations will also go to our general operations fund and to our scholarship fund. We offer full and partial scholarships to individuals with financial need who want to enroll in one of our classes. We are able to offer these scholarships because our community helps us to do so. These classes are life-changing for people.
