Tammy holds a PhD in Neuroscience from Wake Forest University and embraces her nerdiness when she says, “I love storytelling because it’s good for the brain!” But she also wholeheartedly points out that stories connect us on a more spiritual level, allowing us to carry one another inside. After working for years at a cutting-edge neurotechnology company, she took a class at Capital Storytelling and, as she puts it, “rediscovered her spark.” She was a 2022 Story Ambassador and then began teaching classes in that same year for us. She is now our Director of Operations and Programs, helping to run the day-to-day of our organization. If something needs to get done behind the scenes (often without a lot of thanks or fanfare), Tammy is often the one doing it, keeping us going. She does it because she believes in the life-changing power of listening and telling stories.
