Erich’s roots stem from the Catskill Mountains of New York, where he found his love of art, nature, and science. After some time in New York City as a wayward art student, he found a rugged crew sailing historic ships in the harbor and knew he had found his place on the water. This began a maritime career that has taken him across the country on several historic ships to the Pacific Islands where he served aboard a scientific research vessel. Having returned to California in 2021, he now operates boats for the US Fish & Wildlife Service and is proud of his humble role in conservation efforts. In his time off he enjoys visiting the bay, paddleboarding, drawing, and spending time with his beloved dog, Guinness. Through storytelling, Erich hopes to inspire connections within communities and foster reverence for the natural world around them.
