Story Ambassador 2023

A Texas native that currently calls Colorado home, Akusua is a disabled poet, spoken word artist and public speaker whose work centers on Black mental health, homelessness, advocating for community care, and creativity.  A former student at Albuquerque Job Corps (welding) and University of New Mexico, she has been interviewed on homelessness by the New York Times and she’s currently working on two manuscripts of poetry and a memoir.
