Storyopolis

Storyopolis is our monthly open mic true storytelling event held at New Helvetia Brewing Company! We meet at 7 PM outside on the patio each second Saturday of the month to share true stories in an open-mic forum. We typically have room for 8 tellers each evening. We pull tellers’ names from a hat to pick the line-up. Show up to listen or come with a story to tell! Dates are below.

POSTPONED! All in-person events (including Storyopolis) have been postponed until further notice. We want to keep our community safe. Please check back here again for updates.

New Helvetia Brewing Company, 1730 Broadway, Sacramento CA

To share, show up 20 mins before the start of the event and put your name in the hat. We’ll pull 8 names for the line-up. Guidelines are below.

  1. Stories should be true and something that happened to YOU.
  2. Stories should be between 5-8 mins long.
  3. At Capital Storytelling, we do not tolerate sexist, racist, or able-ist speech (or any language that marginalizes another individual or group of people). Be mindful that your story does not contain this kind of language.
  4. We encourage honesty and unfiltered vulnerability when sharing; however, we also encourage compassion and thoughtfulness in how you tell your story and portray others in your story. Always be compassionate when telling.

IMPORTANT COVID GUIDELINES: We take the safety of the community very seriously. Please do one of the following: 1) Be fully vaccinated (two weeks after final shot) 2) If unvaccinated, wear a mask even outside.
