SUMMARY:2-Day Storytelling Workshop: (Day 1: Discover Your Story)
DESCRIPTION:Storytelling is a powerful way to foster empathy\, form connections\, empower\, and create community. In this 2-day workshop\, participants will first experience a storytelling workshop in which they are guided through reflective and meaningful prompts to support them in their own personal story discovery process. They will learn how to come up with their own stories and ways of active listening to the stories of those around them. On Day 2\, we draw back the curtains to reveal ways to facilitate the storytelling workshop that participants experienced on Day1. Participants will be given tools to facilitate these kinds of spaces in their own communities\, places of work\, and organizations. You can choose to come to only Day 1 to experience the story discovery workshop or you can enroll in Day 1 & 2 as a package. \nThis is a 2-day intensive virtual workshop. Information on each day’s session is below! \nDay 1: Discover Your Story\nJuly 23 @ 11 AM – 1 PM PT / 2 PM – 4 PM ET\nCost: $45 \nIn this 2 hour workshop session\, participants will get to experience the power of personal story discovery and sharing. They will be guided through activities to help them uncover unique personal stories from their own lives. Participants will be given personal reflection prompts to help them find those stories\, understand their meaning\, and then they will be given the opportunity to share their story in a small group setting if they choose. We’ll close the session through a larger group discussion on the power that storytelling has on our thinking about our lives as well as our connection to one another. This first session is for anyone interested in an introduction to storytelling and wanting to discover their own unique stories. If you only want to attend Day 1\, wonderful. SUMMARY:My [American] Dream: A storytelling workshop
DESCRIPTION:Graphic by Celeste Espinoza \nHome is where the heart is—but for immigrants\, we may have more than one home\, and more than one memory or definition of “the [American] dream.” The South Asian immigrant community has its share of unique experiences in this journey—ranging from joyful\, memorable\, funny\, uncertain\, and traumatic\, to life-altering. Sharing those experiences about our immigrant dream is not only cathartic\, it helps us find meaning and build connections with others. In this 2 hours virtual workshop\, we will come together to discover and reflect on stories in our lives in a fun\, compassionate\, and safe space. \nMeghna Bhat\, a Capital Storytelling Ambassador\, and a first-generation immigrant will lead participants through individual reflective activities to help them discover their own unique stories and to see meaning in those stories. This story circle has been intentionally created for immigrants\, refugees\, or asylum seekers of South Asian origin from South Asian countries. Participants will be invited to share stories in small groups if they choose. Come connect with others in the community\, learn more about yourself\, find your voice\, and learn more about the power of storytelling. \nJune 22 @ 6 PM PT / 9 PM ET \nCost: $45 \n**We are intentionally creating space for our immigrant community in this workshop. If you want to attend but do not identify as an immigrant\, please email meghna@capitalstorytelling.com. We will work together to make sure there is space for everyone in our storytelling spaces. \nIf you have questions or need a scholarship\, please contact Dr. Meghna Bhat at meghna@capitalstorytelling.com \nREGISTER \nShare this:\n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook
