Bernetta “Penny” Parson has worked in higher education with students for over two decades, leading transfer student programs at LaGuardia Community College and Vassar College, and working as the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion career counselor at Mount Holyoke College. She received her undergraduate degree in English Literature from Mount Holyoke and holds two Master’s degrees– one in Higher Education and one in Urban Affairs. She first came to Capital Storytelling as a student in 2020 but quickly stood out as a star storyteller. She has told stories on stage ranging from a fear-inducing camp-talent-show to a deeply moving story about the birth of her daughter and an all-important Mets game. She is currently one of our 2022 Story Ambassadors and is in training to become a story coach and instructor.Bernetta “Penny” Parson
